About PokeCalc
PokeCalc is a free, fan-made battle tool: a damage calculator that asks for the numbers a beginner actually has, an interactive type chart, and plain-language guides for the mechanics the game never explains — the formula, team roles, and the three hidden stat levers.
Why this calculator exists
The damage calculators the competitive community relies on are superb and utterly hostile to newcomers: a hundred dropdowns per creature, expert set formats, no guidance. Most people do not want to model a full tournament set — they want to know whether their move knocks out the thing in front of them. PokeCalc answers exactly that question with the numbers the game itself shows you, explains every term in the same words a friend would use, and leaves the expert depth to the tools built for experts.
What it believes
Three principles shape every page. Beginner-first: three steps to a result, presets instead of a stat-entry wall, and every jargon term explained on the page where it appears. Honest mechanics: the calculator implements the current-generation formula including the random roll — and says plainly what it does not model (held items, abilities). Free and fan-made: no account, no paywall tier, and no official connection — PokeCalc is an independent project and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company; all trademarks belong to their owners.
